Jan Copestake

Jan has worked within the legal profession almost her entire working life, starting with Gorton Penhale in the 1970’s. She has developed a wealth of skills and experience within her chosen specialism of Private Client work. Jan has worked exclusively within Private Client law for over 20 years.

Jan regularly advises clients in relation to Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. She works with Attorneys responsible for managing affairs for those who have lost capacity. Jan also has significant experience in obtaining Grants of Probate/Letters of Administration and administering estates.

Jan also regularly assists with applications to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a Deputy where someone has lost capacity and in the general management of a donors affairs and preparation of the Annual accounts required by the Court.

Jan’s empathy and understanding for her clients, who are often instructing her during a very difficult time means that she is regularly instructed as a result of being personally recommended.

Away from work Jan enjoys ice dancing, ballroon dancing and swimming. In 2018 she braved the Bay when she took part in the “Big Boxing Day Dip” in support of St. John’s Hospice.
