Richard Bagguley LLB (Hons)

Richard gained his Law degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne before moving to the local area to work in South Lakeland.

After becoming a Partner in Pearson and Pearson he became the resident partner at their West End office in Morecambe before setting up on his own in 2000. Richard then moved his practice to the current offices in Northumberland Street Morecambe before amalgamating with David Baines and Glynn Entwistle.

He was instrumental in a merger with The Penhale Practice in 2012 and the acquisition of Lancaster-based firm Marsh and Co in 2013.

With a background as a sole practitioner Richard has a fund of experience in many areas of law but now specialises in :

  • Commercial Conveyancing
  • Wills
  • Estate planning and administration
  • Private Client issues including Powers of Attorney and applications to the Court of Protection.

Richard’s interest and expertise in commercial law covers a wide breadth of matters developed over many years.

He has regularly been called upon to advise in sales and acquisitions of businesses and has extensive experience in advising on commercial conveyancing leasehold interests and commercial mortgages.

As Head of our Private Client Department Richard has particular interest in the administration of complex estates advising on Inheritance Tax and associated issues.

Richard is known for his caring and compassionate approach and brings a depth of knowledge and sound judgment to all matters.

In his spare time Richard is a keen sports enthusiast and has been a long serving Committee member of Arnside Cricket Club. He has been a member of his local Round Table/41 Club for many years and has recently been persuaded to develop an interest in gardening.
