Nicola Codd LLB (Hons)

Nicola Codd is a director and the head of compliance with the firm.

Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 2007, after obtaining an Honours Degree in law.  She became a partner in The Penhale Practice and was subsequently influential in merging that practice with Baines Bagguley to form the current firm Baines Bagguley Penhale in 2012.

Due to wide ranging experience during her early years as a solicitor, Nicola has gained expertise in the area of Property Law and in addition has a solid knowledge base within areas of litigation, probate and wills. She has always had an interest in Family and Matrimonial law and has continued to develop her knowledge and expertise in this area.

Nicola has been a dedicated member of Resolution, the national organisation of family lawyers committed to dealing with issues in non-confrontational ways, since qualifying as a solicitor. In 2013 she took the next step and qualified as a collaborative lawyer with a view to helping her clients reach agreements wherever possible without the need to become involved in court proceedings.

Nicola regularly assists clients following relationship break down including handling complex financial issues or complicated property settlements. She also regularly assists clients in dealing with disagreements regarding arrangements for children.

Nicola also advises couples who are about to enter into relationships, whether that be by marriage, civil partnership or cohabitation, addressing how finances are to be dealt with within that relationship and in particular what would happen if the relationship broke down.

Whilst Nicola is very committed to the practice, and enjoys working within the legal arena, she enjoys spending time away from the office with her daughter and husband.  In any spare time left over between work and play, she enjoys sewing and has recently taking up tap dancing.
