How to Write a Will if you are Self Isolating

26 MAR 2020

In these uncertain times, with advice changing on a daily basis, we have been approached by a number of clients who are concerned that they have either began to provide Will instructions to this firm, or they would like to consider their Will instructions at this time but they are not able to get out and about.

We have reviewed our processes and procedures to ensure that we are able to assist all clients who wish a Will to be written or an LPA to be prepared, whether or not they are self-isolating at home at present.

Our ability to complete a Will, and to ensure that all legal formalities are followed to ensure that it is legally binding, will depend upon our clients having access to a video calling facility such as WhatsApp, Skype or FaceTime. If you do not have access to any of these services then please contact our office to discuss how we can assist.

Where, however, video calling is available we can arrange to take your instructions either via the telephone or video call, prepare a Will for your approval and once approved either post a Will to you for signature or arrange to email it to you for printing at home.

We can then make arrangements via video call to witness that signature, and in the event that you are able to return the Will to us via post, then complete the Will formally.

Where the Will cannot be returned to us by the postal service for some time, we can still take steps within our offices to ensure that the formalities of executing a Will are properly followed to make the Will legally binding and effective.

Access to our fully qualified solicitors is available either via telephone, email or via the chat service on our website.
